Dorna Stoken

During my elementary years, I attended schools in many cities all over Western Europe. My family moved to California where I began high school and went to Prospect High School in Saratoga. I received my undergraduate degree from U.C Berkeley and my multiple subject credential from San Jose State University.

I currently live in Aptos with my husband, six year old daughter, and dog named Bunny.

Favorite subject/thing to teach

I love teaching math. There is nothing better than having students gain confidence as their math skills develop and really start taking ownership of their learning.

I especially enjoy being a part of a process where students use their understanding of math concepts that we learn about in class and use them in real-life situations. There are many instances when students tell me they have used mental math or estimation to make sound decisions in their lives outside of school.

Most memorable experience at Del Rey Woods

My most memorable experience at Del Rey Woods was saying good-bye to last year's graduating third grade class on the last day of school. We had worked so hard all year, and I will always be extremely proud of our achievements and progress.
