Dropping Off or Picking Up Students

Adults picking up or dropping off their children need to use the white zone in front of the ‘B’ wing. The white curb clearly identifies the space as the safest for adults to drop off or pick up students. Please do not park, drop off or pick up students in the faculty parking lot at the front of the school. There is a posted sign, near the Del Rey Woods School sign at the entrance to the faculty parking lot, which specifically states that students are not to be dropped off in that area.

Upon arrival at the “official dropping off area,” please pause only long enough to allow your students to leave your vehicle. It would be very much appreciated if drivers give all last minute reminders to children prior to stopping and that adults do not leave their vehicles in this area. Adults wishing to park and walk their children to the playground may park next to the unmarked curbs on Plumas Ave., Noche Buena St., or Tweed St, or in the parking lot at the church across Noche Buena St.

During the first few weeks of school, your child’s teacher and principal will be reviewing safety procedures, rules, etc., with all children. Should you need some clarification or a gentle reminder as to where to drop them off, etc., your child will be right there to help you.

Your cooperation and support is always very much appreciated! Please call the principal with any concerns and/or suggestions to further safety-proof our school.

Parking is a difficult issue we face every year at Del Rey Woods due to limited space. For the safety of all of our children, please be patient, drive cautiously, and as much as possible, use the drop off area for dropping off and picking up only. Please do not park in the designated drop off area. Automobiles may park in the authorized parking areas: the unmarked curbs on Plumas Ave., Noche Buena St., or Tweed St, or in the parking lot at the church across Noche Buena St. All curbside color markings should be observed.

Fire Lanes: All red curbing around the school is designated by the Fire Marshall as fire lanes. In order for Fire Department emergency vehicles to have immediate access to buildings for medical or fire emergencies, it is imperative that no one park in these red zones.

Vehicles parked illegally in the red zone or in the drop off/pick up areas will be subject to citations and/or towing by the Seaside Police Department.

When picking up or dropping off students, all street safety precautions should be exercised. Parents are asked not to park or drive in the faculty parking lot in front of the school. This has become a serious safety problem. The Seaside Police Department will patrol in order to ensure the safety of your children.
