Ms. Ferrante Wins KSBW's Crystal Apple Award!

theresaferrante.jpgtheresaferrante2.jpg

Del Rey Woods' Theresa Ferrante was the winner of the KSBW Crystal Apple Awards presented by Dole Fresh Vegetables. KSBW's Dan Green visited Ms. Ferrante's class to present her with the award on November 1.

"Theresa Ferrante is one of the pillars of the Del Rey Woods teaching team. She is not only a motivator of students who consistently raises her students' achievement, she is also leader among her peers and an innovator in the classroom. Theresa is always willing to try new strategies to improve students' academic success. Add to that her dedication to increasing parent involvement through her tireless work with the PTA, and an inspirational and positive spirit to insure all her students learn, and we have a "Super Teacher" - the only thing missing on her is a cape!" - said Principal Dr. Reyes. MPUSD is very proud to have dedicated teachers that go the extra mile for our students. Thank-you and congratulations Theresa!" - MPUSD 'Bay Windows' Newsletter

Congressman Sam Farr Visits DRW

san farr.jpgCongressman Sam Farr is the U.S. Representative for California's 17th congressional district. He has been our Congressman since 1993. On Monday, October 15, Mr. Farr visited Del Rey Woods and spoke to our 5th grade class. He spoke about the importance of voting and being aware of the important issues in Monterey County. When students asked him about his accomplishments, he spoke about his efforts to preserve the natural beauty of Monterey and our ocean, and how he has helped teachers and farmers. We thank Congressman Farr for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our school.

Congratulations!

Welcome to the new school year!

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the staff, I am pleased to have this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our school. Del Rey Woods is your school and I want you to enjoy it, benefit from it, and support it for your children and others. Del Rey Woods enjoys a wonderful partnership of students, faculty, staff and parents… resulting in a quality education.

Our school Mission Statement embodies the beliefs that we as educators and parents hold about children.  We strive to make Del Rey Woods School reflect these values.

“In an ever-changing community, Del Rey Woods Elementary School has a vision that ensures a safe, nurturing and flexible environment in which each student can attain academic and social success through the collaboration and commitment of our students, teachers, parents and community.”

Today’s children are tomorrow’s promise!

The guidelines, policies, and procedures reflected in the Parent/Student Handbook were established for the benefit and welfare of the entire campus—students, faculty and support staff.

The Handbook also attempts to provide an answer to the questions and concerns most often shared by parents.   However, should you have the need for further clarification, please don’t hesitate to call my office.

I also encourage you to share your suggestions and ideas for improvement.  I firmly believe that this is your school and your involvement is very important to me.

Have a successful and happy year!  I look forward to seeing you on campus this year.

Sincerely,
Dr. Ramiro S. Reyes
Principal
